Writer's Guidelines
Pharmaceutical Representative, a monthly newsmagazine that reaches over 70,000 pharmaceutical salespeople, managers and trainers at more than 95 drug companies in the United States and Canada, is interested in receiving articles on various aspects of pharmaceutical sales and marketing, from how-to articles to case histories and trend pieces.

We do not offer financial compensation for feature articles; however, should a submitted article be accepted for publication, we would publish a brief biography of the author, along with a contact e-mail address and telephone number if desired. Along with a bio, authors should send a head shot of themselves (300 dpi or greater in JPEG format if sent electronically) for inclusion with the article.

Advice
Articles should be: submitted on deadline (if applicable), typewritten and double spaced in Microsoft Word format, and a maximum of 1,500 words in length (length is open to discussion, depending on the topic).

An article stands a better chance of being accepted for publication if it covers topics not previously addressed in Pharmaceutical Representative, or finds a new way to look at a familiar issue. Articles on industry trends should be documented using published sources or quotes from several industry experts. Articles that are product endorsements or advertorials will be rejected. We reserve the right to edit submitted articles for length, style and clarity.

Copyright
All articles must be original unpublished work that has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. When a manuscript is accepted, the copyright of the article as edited and laid out in Pharmaceutical Representative belongs to Advanstar Communications. Authors must sign a license agreement to that effect (a signed original of the license agreement must be mailed to Pharmaceutical Representative's editor before the article can be published), but they retain the right to prepare derivative works or to revise, adapt or orally present their articles.

If you would like to pitch a story idea or have questions, please e-mail us at pr@advanstar.com.
